Barrier-free travel and flying
True to our motto, “We fly by heart,” it is very important to us at LEAV that you, as a passenger, enjoy a pleasant journey, regardless of your needs. With us, you are in the best of hands, because our friendly cabin crew will be at your side during the flight to provide you with the necessary support and will be your point of contact for any questions or requests.
Below you will find some helpful information on barrier-free travel and how to register for services or special medical baggage:
Restricted mobility
Restricted mobility If you have restricted mobility or a disability of any kind and require assistance, please let us know at least 72 hours before departure.
You can use the following form for this purpose: Contact form, or you can contact our service team by phone. They will then send you the form to fill out by email.
Please send the completed form by email to: you@leav.com
If you have any questions, please contact the LEAV Service Center team at any time: +49 221 5998 4000
We are happy to transport your foldable wheelchair or up to two other mobility aids and one seat aid free of charge.
Do you own an electric wheelchair or other battery-powered mobility aids?
For safety reasons, we cannot transport wet batteries.
Please ensure that the leak-proof dry or gel battery is disconnected and not operational before handing over the wheelchair at check-in, and that the battery terminals are protected against short circuits and insulated.
The battery must be securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid.
Always have the technical data sheet for your medical device handy so that you can provide the service center staff with all the necessary information about the device.
Wheelchairs with a lithium battery must not exceed a maximum power of 300 Wh.
Would you like to take medical luggage on board?
Our Service Center team will be happy to assist you with registering your oxygen device and other medical luggage.
Medical baggage must be registered at least 30 hours before the scheduled departure.
Please find information about prohibited items in the aircraft cabin here: Click here, opens in a new window/tab (PDF)
Here too, always have the technical data sheet for your medical device to hand.
If you are carrying special medication and syringes (e.g., insulin syringes), we advise you to always carry a medical certificate confirming that this is medical equipment that you require for personal use.
Loyal companions – transporting assistance dogs:
The transport of assistance dogs (guide dogs, therapy dogs, and similar assistance dogs) in the cabin is free of charge on all LEAV flights.
Their transport cages and animal feed are also transported free of charge outside the free baggage allowance.
In order to confirm that you can take the item with you in the aircraft cabin, we require proof of medical necessity.
If your assistance dog is traveling in its transport container during the flight, it must fit in the footwell of the seat.
Please notify our LEAV Service Center at least 72 hours before departure if you will be traveling with your assistance dog: +49 221 5998 4000.
To ensure that you remember everything before departure and can travel relaxed with your assistance dog, we have put together a few useful tips for you:
Transportation of assistance dogs – organizational information:
Have you checked the entry and exit requirements for your destination country?
Have all necessary veterinary examinations (vaccinations, etc.) been carried out in good time before departure?
Are all necessary medical and official documents for your pet, such as the pet passport, available and stored in your hand luggage?
You registered to bring your dog with you at our Service Center and have the corresponding booking confirmation with you along with your other documents?
Is your dog a certified assistance dog? If so, please always carry proof of your dog’s training as an assistance dog with you.
We recommend that you always carry a copy of the completed and signed “Transport of an animal in the aircraft cabin” form in your hand luggage.
Your dog wears a harness whenever possible, and you’ve remembered a muzzle for safety! Then you’re perfectly prepared.
