What else you need to know about flying with children and infants
Sharing the LEAV experience with your child is possible on all our routes.
Children aged between 2 and 11 receive a 20% discount on the current adult ticket price (on the flight price only, excluding air traffic tax and airport charges). The age at the start of the last flight listed on the ticket is decisive.
The reduced fare will be automatically displayed based on your selection of travellers in the booking request.
We only transport children up to the age of 11 if they are accompanied by an adult or by a brother or sister who is at least 16 years old. You can find information on unaccompanied children below under LEAVmini.
Each adult passenger may carry a maximum of one infant under the age of 2 on their lap. An infant is not entitled to a separate seat.
A second infant (under 2 years of age) can be booked by an adult passenger at the regular child fare on the adjacent seat and only upon request to the LEAV Service Centre on +49 221 5998 4000.
Service fee for infants (0–23 months)
LEAV charges a service fee for infants (0–23 months). This allows them to travel on the lap of their accompanying person and includes basic services for our youngest passengers.

Good to know:
Are you planning a return flight with your infant, and will they be celebrating their 2nd birthday before the return flight?
In this case, your child will need their own seat on both legs of the journey and therefore a ticket at the child fare for both the outbound and return flights instead of the service fee for infants.

No prior registration is required for prams, buggies, travel cots and car seats if these are not to be used on board.
To ensure that you and your child have a relaxed stay at the airport, you can simply hand in your buggy at the gate.
All other items mentioned above can be handed in at the bulky baggage counter during check-in.
Use of a child car seat on board
If you would like your infant (under 2 years of age) to travel on board our flights in their own seat, this is of course possible.
All you need is your own approved child car seat.
You can obtain a list of approved child seats from TÜV Rheinland, for example.
When using a child car seat on board our flight, the fare for a full-paying child must be booked.
Each adult passenger may carry a maximum of one infant under the age of 2 on their lap. An infant is not entitled to a separate seat.
To book your ticket and request a child seat for your flight, please contact LEAV Service on +49 221 5998 4000 at least 72 hours before your scheduled departure.
Transport of children travelling alone
You can LEAV your kids with us.
In addition to the flight price per route and child, your children aged 5 to 11 can travel unaccompanied for a flat fee of €49 and upon prior registration. Registration must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure by calling the LEAV Service Centre on +49 221 5998 4000.
Children travelling alone must present valid photo identification (e.g. passport) at the airport, as well as a declaration of consent from their legal guardian and any other necessary documentation.
For security reasons, the accompanying person of a child travelling alone must also identify themselves with valid photo ID at check-in and when handing over the child at the destination.
Please remain at the airport as an accompanying person until the actual departure of the aircraft.
Upon arrival at the destination airport, the child will be accompanied to their pick-up person by a member of staff. The child must be collected by their pick-up person immediately after landing.
Young people travelling alone up to the age of 16 will be treated as children travelling alone at the express request of their legal guardians.
Travelling during pregnancy
We warmly welcome you on board with us up to and including the 35th week of pregnancy. To ensure that you are well prepared for your holiday with us, we have put together a few valuable tips for you:
Always have your maternity log handy and, ideally, an additional copy with you.
It may also be helpful to carry a gynaecological certificate stating that your pregnancy is proceeding normally, the expected date of birth and that the pregnancy does not prevent you from flying.
Different countries, different rules. Please check in advance whether there are any special entry requirements for expectant mothers at your destination.
For more legroom, you can book an aisle seat or one of our XLEAV seats in advance.
Depending on the flight time, we recommend that you wear support stockings on the plane due to the increased risk of thrombosis.
You should drink plenty of fluids during the flight.
