Travel with children

What you need to know if travelling with kids

  • Sharing the LEAV experience with your child is basically possible on all of our flights.
  • Children between the ages of 2 and 11 receive a discount of 20% on the current ticket price of an adult (on the pure flight price excluding air traffic tax and airport charges). The decisive factor here is the age at the start of the last flight‚ noted on the ticket.
  • The reduced flight price is automatically displayed based on your choice of travelers when making the booking request.
  • We only transport children up to the age of 11‚ if they are accompanied by an adult or accompanied by a brother or sister who is at least 16 years old. Information on the subject of unaccompanied flying can be found below‚ under "LEAVmini".
  • A maximum of one baby up to the age of 2‚ can be carried on the passenger's lap per adult passenger. An infant is not entitled to its own seat.
  • A second infant (under 2 years of age) can be booked by an adult passenger at the regular child rate in the neighboring seat and only on request at the LEAV Service Centre on +49 221 5998 4000.

Good to know:
Are you planning a return flight with your infant and you are celebrating it´s 2nd birthday before the return flight?
In this case‚ your child needs an own seat on both routes and therefore a ticket at the children's fare‚ instead of an infant service fee for both‚ the outward and return flights.

No registration is required for prams‚ buggies‚ travel cots and child car seats if they are not to be used on board
To enable you and your child to have a relaxing stay at the airport‚ it is sufficient to hand in the buggy at the gate.
You can hand in all the other above-mentioned items during check-in‚ at the bulky baggage counter.


Use of child seats on board:
  • If you would like your infant (under 2 years of age) to travel in their own seat on board our flights‚ this is of course possible.
  • All you need is an approved child car seat that you have brought with you.
  • You can request the list of approved child seats from TÜV Rheinland‚ for example.
  • When using the child car seat on board our flight‚ the fare of a full paying child must be booked.
To book the ticket and use the child seat on the flight‚ please contact LEAV Service at least 72 hours before the planned departure on +49 221 5998 4000.

Carriage of children travelling alone. You can LEAV your kids with us.
In addition to the fare per route per child‚ your children aged between 5 and 11 (included) can travel unaccompanied for a service charge of 49€‚ and by prior registration. You must register at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure‚ at the LEAV Service Centre on +49 221 5998 4000.
  • For the child travelling alone‚ a valid photo ID (e.g. passport) as well as a declaration of consent from the legal guardian and any other necessary evidence‚ must be presented at the airport.
  • For security reasons‚ the person accompanying the child travelling alone must also identify themselves with a valid photo ID at the check-in desk‚ and when the child is handed over at the place of arrival.
  • Please stay as an accompanying person at the airport‚ until the departure of the aircraft.
  • After arriving at the destination airport‚ the child will be accompanied by an employee to the person picking them up. The child is to be received by the person collecting the child immediately after landing.
  • Young people up to the age of 16 travelling alone‚ will be treated like children travelling alone at the express request of their legal guardian.

Travel while pregnant
We warmly welcome you on board up to and including the 35th week of pregnancy.
So that you can start your vacation with us well prepared‚ we have a few valuable tips for you:
  • Always have your maternity record to hand and ideally always have an additional copy with you.
  • It can also be helpful to have a gynecological certificate with you‚ in which an uncomplicated course of the pregnancy‚ the expected due date and the note that the pregnancy does not prevent you from air travel‚ can be helpful.
  • Different countries‚ different regulations. Please inquire‚ whether there are special entry requirements for expectant mothers for your travel destination.
  • For more legroom‚ you can book a seat in the aisle or one of our XLEAV seats in advance.
  • Depending on the flight time‚ we recommend that you wear support stockings on the plane due to the increased risk of thrombosis.
  • You should drink plenty of fluids during the flight.
